[Jas 2:20] Do you want to be shown, you shallow man, that faith apart from works is barren?
[1Cor 13:2.28] And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
[Gen 3:4,5] But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
Faith = a confession of faith = words not works.
Salvation = Faith alone, momentary one-time simple belief.
Grace = the license to do evil in the name of the Lord.
Freedom = anything goes.
Once Saved Always Saved is only supported by scripture which is lifted out of context. There are over 60 warnings in the New Testament about loosing salvation - Matt 7:21 is one of them.
It is high presumption to run around saying: I am saved! I am saved! When there are scriptures saying: live holy godly lives (2 Pet 3:11) - lest you fall (Mat 7:27, 1 Cor 10:12, 2 Pet 3:17, Jam 5:12)! If you could not fall from salvation, why are there so many warnings about falling?
...we cannot force ourselves out of His hand...and nothing in creation can take us out of His hand...BUT - and this is a big BUT...according to the book of Revelations, if we live in a manner unworthy of His name, if we are found getting drunk and beating people (Luke 12:45-46)...He (in His sovereign right as King of Kings) can blot our name out of the book of life (Rev 3:5), and put us with the unfaithful (Luke 12:46)...
The Serpent?s gospel is clever, in that it mixes what sounds like good theology, with lies. The main reason the Serpent?s gospel is wrong, is because it was claimed in DISOBEDIENCE to God. The benefits of the true gospel can only be gained through OBEDIENCE to God.
[Mat 7:21] "Not every one who says to me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
Living faith obeys God. Faith and the benefits of it are lost in disobedience.
[Prov 28:13] He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
You may say: "No one can snatch me out of His hand" (John 10:28,29). But, if you do not hear and recognize His voice - hear and believe His words - you are NOT in His hand and you are NOT one of His sheep.
[John 10:27] My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me;
Churches that stress Faith Alone, focus on the person of Jesus - but not His words. If you have NO faith in the words of Christ, you cannot have a real faith in the person of Christ Jesus. It is hypocrisy to say: I have faith in Jesus - and ignore His words. This is the critical error these Churches make. There is a hair breadth distance between doubt and faith. It seems easy to believe a select few words of Jesus - and discard the rest. How people focus so hard and so strong on Faith Alone in Eph 2:8,9 - and ignore totally Eph 2:10.
[Eph 2:10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for GOOD WORKS, which God prepared beforehand, that WE SHOULD WALK IN THEM.
Eph 2:10 is really a commandment to obey God in doing good works. But it is almost totally ignored or glazed over by most Protestants. Do you really believe Jesus as He talks about Hell? About punishment? About those who are religious (this includes Faith Alone) but do NO GOOD WORKS are addressed by Jesus like this: [Mat 7:23] And then will I declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.' ??
1. If you love me, you will keep my commandments [John 14:15].
2. Repent (turn from your sins) for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand [Mat 4:17].
3. Keep the commandments and you will be saved [Matt 19:17].
4. The tree which bears bitter fruit, and the tree which bears no fruit, will be thrown into the fire [Matt 3:10, 7:17-19].
5. Not everyone who says Lord Lord will enter the Kingdom of Heaven - only those who do the will of my Father [Matt 7:21].
6. Keep the Lord?s Supper [Luke 22:19].
7. Be baptized [John 3:5, Matt 28:19].
8. Salvation is gained by obeying God [Romans 2:6,7] and persevering in faith to the end [Matt 10:22].
9. Salvation is lost by sinful, unrepentant behavior [Luke 12:45,46].
